I started Martial Arts in the early
seventies after being fascinated
with Bruce Lee. I studied under
Willy Lin of Lin's Kung Fu and
learned some Northern Chinese
Wu-Shu. Though I enjoyed the style
and learned much from the exposure I
found that I was not built for the
long stances and fluidity of the
Chinese Arts , so I searched for a
style that would best suit me.
In
1978 I joined Thompkins Studio and
learned some Tangsu-Do and found the
Korean style better suited for me
but I was curious at what else was
out there. This search led me to
taste several different Martial Arts
disciplines including; Jujitsu,
Hapkido, Aikido, Taekwon-Do,
Shorin-Ryu and American Kickboxing.
I joined a Judo club which
eventually led me to Wonwha-Do a
combination of several styles but
mainly a combination of Judo and
Taekwon-Do. I studied Wonwha-Do for
4 years and was awarded a Brown Belt
with Black stripe. As a Black Belt
candidate I was assistant instructor
for the clubs in University of
Maryland and American University. In
the late eighties I joined Mid
Atlantic Karate and was awarded my
first Black Belt by Dan Magnus in
1991.
I explored full contact Kick
Boxing and worked as a security
consultant. I joined Grandmaster
Kreimer's Karate Institute in 1991
and have been with him for more than
15 years. I was awarded my second,
third, fourth, and fifth degree
Black Belt from Grandmaster Kreimer
and am currently the chief
instructor at his Frederick studio. |
